Treatments

Treatments : General introduction of Intra Uterine Insemination (IUI)
This is the closest to the natural way of conceiving. Ideal conditions are : perfect or very good sperm quality and healthy patent uterine tubes. Both should be approved prior to the procedure. In IUI ovulation induction is performed with tablets for 5 days starting from the 3d day of menstrual cycle. Then a mature oocyte is confirmed via ovary Echo scan and some hormonal blood analyses. Ovulation is timed with an hCG injection. 34-36 hours thereafter the procedure is performed. The semen sample is handled in a way to separate most viable, with good motility sperms. This only part of the ejaculate is placed in the woman`s womb in the time of ovulation. 14 days later a blood pregnancy test is performed.

General Introduction for IVF Treatments
IVF is a method of infertility treatment. The woman is injected with hormones in order to stimulate her ovaries to produce more than one egg each. Aspiration of the eggs is then performed under general anesthesia. A couple of hours later eggs are put together with spermatozoa in a drop of nutrient media. Embryos can be seen next day. Incubation of the embryos follows up to 5-6 days. Then chosen embryos (1, 2 or 3) are transferred in a woman`s womb (uterus). If there are more embryos developed they are stored in a liquid nitrogen on minus 196° C. 14 days after placing embryos into the uterus, blood pregnancy test is made to confirm or reject pregnancy (presence or absence of hCG).

General introduction of ICSI Treatments
ICSI is a method of treatment for male infertility. The woman is injected with hormones in order to stimulate her ovaries to produce more than one egg each. Aspiration (Ova Pick Up) of the eggs is then performed under general anesthesia. The same day semen sample is handled in a way that could be possible to take one chosen sperm In a glass microtube (6 microns in diameter). This glass micropipette is sharp enough to inject the egg with the sperm in it. This way all the eggs are injected with the next chosen single sperm. Fertilization can be seen the next day. Incubation takes place up to 5-6 days. Then chosen embryos (1, 2 or 3) are transferred in a woman`s womb (uterus). If there are more embryos developed they are stored in a liquid nitrogen – minus 196° C. 14 days after placing embryos into the uterus, blood pregnancy test is made to confirm or reject pregnancy.

General introduction of PICSI Treatments
This is the same treatment method as ICSI. The difference is a use of special stuff hyaluronan. It shows which spermatozoa are healthy. Then it is possible to pick up these exactly sperms into the glass pipette for oocyte injection. Above described procedures then follow.

General description of Donor program
This program is used for women where her ovary egg reserve is poor (Premature Ovarian Failure). In these cases ovarian stimulation and Ova Pick Up are performed to a healthy young woman, who is willing to give her eggs to a woman (couple) with no eggs in the ovaries. The procedure is anonymous. A strong legal procedure is followed. When the eggs are picked up from a donor woman, they are fertilized with the sperms of a husband the same day. Then resulting embryos are inspected for 3-6 days, under a microscope during the incubation in our IVF lab. Usually all these embryos are stored in kryobank (liquid nitrogen minus 196° C). Then after a special hormonal preparation of the womb lining (endometrium), some of them (up to 3-4) are placed into the uterus of the patient (the one with poor ovarian reserve).

How much does IVF cost?

 infertility fertility clinic

How much does IVF cost? Calculating IVF cost can be complicated. That’s because in vitro fertilization (IVF) and other fertility treatments or infertility treatments are medical procedures. And since IVF is performed by experts and specialists it will have a price tag. Although costs will vary by region and clinic, the more invasive, involved, or complex the procedure is, the more expensive it is, generally.

  • IVF is medicine – it’s a medical procedure or procedures conducted by highly-trained doctors. Like any specialized treatment, it can be expensive.
  • It adds up – multi-step, complex treatments generally cost more; each procedure adds a cost to the total and there may be muliple treatment cycles
  • It takes time and commitment – IVF is a two-week procedure, requiring daily injections.
  • It may not work – it’s an advanced treatment with good success rates, but not 100%. Patients who have been struggling to conceive for years may pay an emotional price if the outcome is not a success.

However it’s achieved, IVF has costs associated with each point. For instance, collecting eggs ( egg retrieval egg retrievalegg retrieval ) to be fertilized requires injectable medications. Once harvested eggs may be fertilized with conventional insemination where eggs and sperm are placed in the same receptacle and allowed to meet. However, if the conventional method doesn’t work, doctors may choose intracellular sperm insemination ( intracytoplasmic sperm injection icsi ntracytoplasmic sperm injection ntracytoplasmic sperm injection icsi ), or ICSI, where a single sperm is placed (sperm is injectedsperm is injected) sperm is injected sperm is injecteddirectly into a mature egg for fertilization. There is also a technique called “assisted hatching,” where the outer shell of an embryo is either chemically or mechanically broken to allow the embryo to “hatch” more easily. This is commonly done on eggs from older women or on embryos that were created from frozen eggs.

There are also office visits and ultrasound appointments to consider and blood work blood work, possibly many, each carrying a price largely dependent on the clinic.

Money is a big consideration, but not the only one. IVF is a serious time commitment that can dictate a patient’s schedule for a couple of weeks.

But this investment of time and money isn’t the only cost. IVF is incredibly advanced, but it’s not a sure thing. And this long process can take an emotional toll.
